Our first visit with humans since Christmas! Our goal – to spend a few days catching up with Barbara Lapham and her husband Doug in Jensen Beach. Unfortunately, I arrived very sick with bronchitis. The upside, Caleb had a lot of time to catch up with his friend. Caleb had worked with Barb at H.G. Daniels in San Diego for over a decade, but it had been over a decade since they had seen each other, so they had a lot to catch up on. Unfortunately, I did not get any pictures of Barb and Doug.
Many, many years ago, Barb headed off to Mexico to polish her Spanish and to pursue her passion and fine tune her talent for watercolor painting. While in Mexico she acquired a thirst for tequila, and met her future husband, Doug. After many twists and turns life brought Barb back to her roots in Florida where she has opened a delightful studio in Jensen Beach.
Barb and Doug treated us to an amazing dinner at 11 Maple.
The area around Jensen Beach and Hobe Sound is resonant of San Diego 35 years ago. Small easy going beach towns. Great bird watching.
We concluded our stay in Jensen Beach by having a lovely dinner at Barb and Doug’s. We shared some tequila as well as more stories before saying our goodbyes. I really enjoyed our time catching up and I know Caleb did too. We hope to return some day. We should not make the time in between so long. Thank you Barb and Doug! It was great seeing you both.
